π³ Let's Plant a Tree!
Kid-Friendly Step-by-Step Guide
π¦1. Get Ready!
- Clothes you can get dirty
- Small shovel or trowel
- Baby tree (seedling/sapling)
- Water jug or bottle
- Gardening gloves (optional)
- Mulch (like dried leaves or wood chips)
π³οΈ2. Dig a Hole
Pick a sunny spot with room to grow. Dig a hole twice as wide as the roots and just as deep. Remove rocks or trash.
π Fun Fact: Roots like to stretch β just like you!
π³3. Plant Your Tree
Take the tree out gently and place it in the hole. Fill the hole back with soil and pat it softly β like tucking in bed!
πΌ Donβt press too hard! Roots need air too.
π§4. Water It Well
Give the tree a good drink of water after planting. Water the roots, not the leaves!
π5. Add Mulch
Put mulch around your tree like a cozy blanket. But leave space around the trunk so it can breathe.
π Mulch keeps the roots cool, moist, and happy.
π6. Take Care of It
- Water once or twice a week (if no rain)
- Remove weeds or grass near the trunk
- Keep the area clean
ποΈ Bonus: Give your tree a name and visit often!
π
7. Watch It Grow!
- Take a photo every month
- Measure it with a ruler or your hand
- Draw pictures or keep a tree journal
