YouTube Video Uploading SOP

Objective

Ensure consistent, optimized, and efficient upload of videos to YouTube to maximize reach and engagement.

Prerequisites

• Final edited video file (MP4 preferred)
• Thumbnail image ready (1280x720 px, JPG/PNG)
• Video title, description, tags, and playlist information prepared
• Access to YouTube Studio with channel permissions

Step-by-Step Procedure

1. Log in to YouTube Studio:
   Open https://studio.youtube.com and sign in with your Google account.
2. Start Upload:
   Click the “Create” button (camera icon with plus) at top right, then select “Upload videos”.
3. Select Video File:
   Choose the final edited video file from your computer and upload.
4. Enter Video Details:
   - Title: Use keyword-optimized and engaging titles.
   - Description: Write detailed, keyword-rich description including links and calls to action.
   - Tags: Add relevant tags (use SEO tools if available).
   - Playlist: Assign to appropriate playlist.
5. Upload Thumbnail:
   Upload custom thumbnail or select auto-generated option.
6. Set Audience:
   Specify if video is made for kids or not (per COPPA compliance).
7. Video Elements:
   Add cards, end screens, and subtitles as applicable.
8. Visibility Settings:
   Choose from Public, Private, or Unlisted. Set schedule publish date/time if needed.
9. Publish Video:
   Click Publish (or schedule).
10. Post Upload Checklist:
    - Verify video playback.
    - Check description and links.
    - Share on social media or email list as planned.
